I never thought I would find myself in such a chaotic and desperate situation. It was April 30th, 1975 and I was in Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam. The city was under siege as North Vietnamese forces closed in, causing panic and chaos among its citizens. As I frantically tried to make my way out of the city, I couldn’t help but wonder how did we end up in this situation? How did we get to the point of having to escape our own home? This is the story of how I, along with thousands of others, managed to survive and get out of Saigon during one of the most tumultuous times in history.
